BVID Meeting......September 10, 2002

President, Stephanie Garner, called the meeting to order at 7:14 PM

A quorum of BVID members were present:

   Stephanie Garner
   Diana North
   Sherri Roberts
   J. Michael Moore

The minutes of the August 8, 2002 meeting were read and approved.

Reports:

President had a written report.

Vice President reported the following:

·   An updated membership list has been prepared.
·   Renewal letters have been sent out to previous BVID members.
·   Letters will be mailed to BISD interpreters soon.
·   In response to BVID’s inquiry about becoming a consortium site for the RSA grants, Linda Stauffer’s reply indicated that this is not possible due to the grant requirements of an employer ID number. BVID is welcome to secure funds from one of the 10 consortium sites in Texas. BVID’s VP has the names and contact information to secure RSA grants.

Parliamentarian reported the following:

· The e-mail vote following the August 8, 2002 meeting indicated the membership approved of the slate of presenters. Nine BVID members submitted “yes” votes. No BVID members voted “no.” The slate was submitted to TSID board for their approval.
· After consulting with Parliamentary experts, it was determined that board meetings and general membership meetings can run concurrently as long as two sets of minutes are kept. So, BVID can hold Board meetings and General Membership meetings concurrently.

Old Business:

·   The BVID web page is up and running. Thanks to Sherri Roberts and Michael Moore for getting current information uploaded; it looks great!
·   BVID’s recommendation for TSID Conference 2003 entertainment was discussed. Trix Bruce seems to be the best choice at this time, but Sherri Roberts will follow up on additional e-mail recommendations, and other entertainers may be added to the recommended list. BVID will send a short list of entertainers that are within the TSID approved budget of $500 to the next TSID board meeting for their consideration. BVID is not responsible for final contract development with the entertainers.
·   Fall Workshop was discussed.
o   Diana North and Sherri Roberts have put together a workshop for October 26, 2002.
o   Sherri will submit the paperwork to TCDHH for CEU’s, get the agenda and registration form on-line, and ask Ginny Sweet to send e-mail reminders to all BVID members for this workshop. Sherri will also add the workshop to the TSID on-line calendar and send an e-mail to the TSID list-serve about this workshop.
o   Motion (Michael Moore, Diana North) move that BVID allocate a maximum of $20.00 for morning refreshments at the October 26th workshop.    PASSED
o   Diana North will ask Phyllis Hodges to take care of the refreshments since she has done such a superb job in the past.

New Business:

· Meeting dates were set for the rest of the membership year.

o   November 19, 2002        BVID meeting at 1501 Glade St.
o   January 14, 2003          BVID meeting (location TBA)
o   Workshop to be held in February
o   April 29, 2003               BVID meeting (location TBA)
o   June 10, 2003                BVID meeting (location TBA)
o   June 19-22, 2003          TSID conference in Dallas
Meetings will be held at 7PM unless otherwise noted. Sherri Roberts will add these dates to the BVID web page.

· Chapter Representative to the TSID board meetings:

o   BVID needs to have a representative attend at least 3 TSID board meetings a year. Michael Moore attended the last meeting as our Representative.
o   BVID membership feels that it would be a good idea of the BVID rep to attend the next TSID meeting as the entertainment issue will be discussed and BVID is making recommendation for that entertainment.
o   Diana North has been the BVID rep, but due to her pregnancy, she will be unable to travel to most of the TSID board meetings this year. President appointed Michael Moore to represent BVID at the October 12, 2002 TSID board meeting in Tyler, TX.

· BVID web page will be updated as indicated in these minutes. Minutes from BVID meetings will also be added to the web page. A “links” page will also be created as requested by BVID members. Sherri Roberts is maintaining the BVID web page at this time.
