BVID General Meeting

April 29, 2003

The Meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM.

A quorum was determined. The following were in attendance:

The minutes from the previous meeting were read by the secretary and approved as read.

Reports:

President- no report

Vice President- no report

Parliamentarian- written report

Secretary- no report

Treasurer- We have $2,196.32.

Nominating Committee: We have a slate of officers for the upcoming election.

Old Business:

Spring Workshop:

The workshop was a success, with approximately $60 in profit.

New Business:

Constitutional Ammendments:

Michael Moore submitted a written proposal to change membership dues and the definition of a regular member.

Slate of Officers:

The slate of officers for next year is as follows:

President: Sherri Roberts

Vice President: Diana North

Secretary: Paige Abshire

Treasurer: Barbara Robinson

Parliamentarian: Michael Moore

MOTION: Michael Moore and Kent Roberts move to vote on this slate of officers by acclamation. Motion Passed.

Membership Renewal:

Membership renewal is due by May 30, 2003. Diana will email the membership to remind them. Membership forms may be downloaded from the website.

Silent Auction:

We need to donate an item for the silent auction at this year’s TSID conference.

MOTION: Michael Moore and Kent Roberts move that the officers organize the arrangements for the item and spend no more than $40.

Combo Ticket:

BVID still has a combo ticket available for any member in good standing to go to the TSID conference. We will email the membership to find out who is interested. Then the officers will select a member to receive the ticket.

Hotel Accomodations:

MOTION: Kent Roberts and Michael Moore move that BVID pay for one night for Sherri Roberts (as Chapter Representative) to go to the TSID board meeting at conference if needed.

Audit Committee:

Alicia Landine, Kent Roberts, and Michael Moore were nominated to be on the audit committee. They were elected unanimously.

New Member Gifts:

Since Paige Abshire is not here and is in charge of new member gifts, we will postpone discussion of this until the next meeting.

Videos:

MOTION: Sherri Roberts and Diana North move to buy 3 new videos for our video library, including “Interpreting in Legal Settings,” “Interpreting in Medical Settings,” and “Interpreting in Insurance Settings.” Motion Passed. Sherri Roberts will purchase these videos for us.

Announcements:

Our next meeting will be June 10, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at BVCOG.
