Did order the videos and will discuss those. Stephanie made contact through emails with Bob Parish to the
organization.
Vice President: Gave
an oral report. Membership renewals
were. Sent out and sent in to
TSID. I sent out an email for they
combo ticket. Paige Abshire won the
raffle. That is all.
Parliamentarian Report: I have no report, because my duties are under old business. I received the parliamentarian information
tonight.
Secretary: I am typing
as fast as I can. Ginny made contact to
plan to exchange items.
Treasurer: we now have $2297.52; that total is part of
membership too. (That is good…)
Sherri
asked about the post office keys, as they need to be given to Paige and
Barbara.
COMMITTEE
REPORTS:
Audit committee:
Balanced. {Laughter!} Our
treasurer is amazing.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Members…
Audited
the books.
TSID
Silent auction item: Michael Moore
bought things at hobby lobby to make the floral arrangement.
Future
meetings… Group discussed the need to
meet before the summer is over. The
last week of July was ruled out… August
before school starts was discussed and a tentative date for August 5th was set, so that we could invite the
other BISD interpreters to our meeting.
Location of the meetings were again discussed and left at the BVCCOG
building.
Conference
information: TSID conference commences
next week June 19-22. It is the 40th
anniversary for TSID. Should be fun in
Dallas at the Renaissance North Hotel on 635 and Valley Lane.
Discussion
of scheduling an additional meeting occurred, but membership does not yet know
fall schedules… We need to consider the
football schedule at TAMU, when scheduling meetings.
We
have an account with Office Max. We
applied for the card at some time in order to get cheaper copies… There if you get copies made, you must make
the account and have it set up. Diana
North has the office max card, for copies…
New
member gifts. Paige will check on
items and costs…
NEW BUSINESS:
Constitutional
changes:
Sherri Roberts and Michael Moore, both submitted amendments. He emailed his to the board. We need to vote on them individually.
(Reading
from page)
Amendment
Maker: Sherri Roberts, Seconded
by: Stephanie Garner
Move that “student membership” be eliminated as a BVID
membership category and that the parliamentarian make the necessary revisions
in the BVID constitution and Bylaws to reflect this change.
Discussion: Lets look at the student removal… This way we can have students without
confusion to which student or program…
They can join under the chapter membership. In favor? Opposed?
Motion
passes Unanimously.
Michael
Moore submitted the following:
In
Bylaws, Article V, A, move to replace sections 1 and 2 with the following:
1.
Regular Membership dues:
a.
$40 per annum (includes annual TSID dues)
b.
$15 per annum (for those already holding TSID Membership)
2.
Associate Membership dues:
a.
$40 per annum (includes annual TSID dues)
b.
$15 per annum (for those already holding TSID Membership)
AND
In
Bylaws, Article II, B,1, move to replace “who pay Regular Membership dues in
both BVID and TSID shall have voting privileges in BVID and TSID” with “who pay
Regular Membership dues in BVID and who also hold Regular membership in TSID
shall have voting privileges in BVID”
Rationale: we want to encourage those who are already
members of TSID to join our chapter.
Strictly under the current constitution membership dues is $40
regardless of TSID membership status. This still gives a $5 rebate for those
who get TSID membership along with BVID membership. The first part of the amendment sets the dues. The second part changes language in the BVID
regular membership description that allows for the change in due
structure. Moreover, BVID cannot grant
voting privileges in TSID.
Discussion:
it was a wording issue. It merely fixes
the wording, so that individuals don’t have to pay $40 to join.
In
favor? Opposed? They both pass.
No
other constitutional amendments.
Barbara
does chapter financial report.
Fall
workshop: Discussed whether or not we
want to have on. We decided because of our money, we want cheap workshops. We have little costs when we do
workshops… Big name presenters cost the
organization and then we lose money. Discussed
other moneymaking projects like the garage sale. Discussed presenters for future workshops like Nathie, who said
for us to try her later. Helen and
Henry also said to contact them together.
If we want someone we must book in advance.
Kent
suggested we see at the conference who might be available.
Michael
Moore agreed we need a workshop, but wait until after our next meeting to get
feedback and dates.
Sherri
Roberts said that we might be able to do something, but it would depend if you
want a big name in the spring or fall.
We can find out more at the conference.
We can use us and target the ASL students and new level ones…
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ginny
is having a girl. There is still
confusion about the name.
We
have another new membership form to consider…
If you like this one, which I think is clearer; we may go ahead and
adopt this one. It can then be put on
the web and get it to Diana for copying.
ADJOURNMENT:
